Fall Fun!

What a wonderful time of year! As the heat of the summer has tapered off, we've been able to enjoy being outside more and more and all of the fun that Fall brings. Picnics and snack time, bike rides, and playtime! Dave and I decided we love this time of year the best!!




Balloon Glow

The last weekend in September, we were on our way to library in Louisville, when we saw several hot air balloons in the sky. There were 95 registered! We remembered that there was a huge festival and a Top Ten hot air balloon race in the U.S. right in Louisville and were excited to take the kids! The photos didn't come out very well, but we headed out to Bowman Field in Louisville on Saturday night for the Balloon Glow. It was so cool because they filled the balloons up and after dark they would light them all up at the same time for a "glow".

Addison and Lily were both so impressed and awed by all of the massive balloons.

Lily kept smiling and pointing and clapped with each glow. There was a big strawberry, a scarecrow, a can of dog food ;), a cow... Lots of really cool stuff!! They even had several bouncy gyms. Addison was having a blast jumping up and down and jumped right out of his pants!

Toward the end, they brought all of the balloons down and had fireworks. Addison kept saying in a tone of wonder, "No one told me there would be fireworks!"

Horsing Around

We had fun riding horses with Grandma & Grandpa! Lily and Addison have both taken to riding quite well. The first time we put little Lily up by herself, she started swinging her hips, like "Come on.. Giddup Horsey!!.." and of course, we can't forget those animal kisses!

Grandma got a special seat for Addison's second time around. Mommy's thinking helmets will not be forgotten next time!

Halloweeny Craft Time

We also enjoyed putting up our Halloween decorations outside. Addison was a little worried about the spiders...

Milestone Met by Lillian Kay

On October 6, 2006, Lily walked up to the door to meet her Mommy when she got home from work. My little princess is growing up! Of course, as much as we LOVE her pink mermaid Robeez, she is now sporting new kicks to keep her tootsies warm on the cold concrete!

Playground Fun

I've recently spent some time selling a few things on eBay. In return we bought a new (to us!) playground. Lily needs a little stretch before playtime begins!

Dinner with Friends

A friend I met through work, Lou, and her husband, Kinsley, invited us to dinner at their house. We hadn't seen Kinsley since our wedding. (How much our lives have changed in these past 4 1/2 years!) It was such fun seeing their beautiful home and their beautiful, and very polite, children! I was so impressed with how their two teenage kids took the time to meet us and engage. Thanks Lou and Kinsley for being such great hosts! We can't wait to have you over to our house! Lily was a gem falling asleep in her pack and play in the adjacent room. Addison stayed up until we left. We had to wake Lily up to get her in the car. Addison was asleep before we got down the street and Lily stayed awake until we put her in her crib!

Cruisin' on the Celebration Belle

After a morning sprint through the 50th Annual St. James Court Art Show in Old Louisville, we headed to Cincinnati for the Tall Stacks Music, Art, & Heritage Festival. We were hoping to make it to the parade of riverboats in the afternoon, but naptime allowed us to catch the very last available riverboat, the Celebration Belle. We all had such a good time seeing the wheel turn in the water, the beautiful weather, and the fireworks show from the top of the boat on the Ohio River.

Date Night

What a nice time to engage in a great discussion on life, love, and world history! For the first time, Dave and I engaged a babysitter to come watch the kids while we went to dinner with a friend of mine, Heidi, and her husband, Greg. It was so much fun! Lily has been kind of funny about new faces lately, so we were kind of worried how she might react to a babysitter, but then figured she'd be asleep anyhow. Then there was Addison. We just weren't sure. When the sitter, Sarah, arrived Lily took one look at her and started wailing. Addison skipped his nap so Dave took him for a quick ride and he cashed out in minutes. In the meantime, I put Lily to bed. We thought when we left, that as long as Addison didn't wake up that it should be an easy night for Sarah. When we returned, we were surprised to learn that Lily began crying shortly after we left, so Sarah went in to get her and didn't put her back down to bed until 10:00 p.m.!! Three hours past her bedtime!! Lily, you little stinker!! She had gotten up and played with her new friend! What a socialite!

Pumpkins!!

Addison was so excited about the tractors!! Lily was having a rough day because she was tired, but really enjoyed walking every chance she got!

Addison was so excited to see the tractors and to ride on the wagon out to the pumpkin patch. He said he wanted a pumpkin with a long stem, but then picked one out with the top chopped off. Oh, the mind of a 2 year old. Perhaps he felt some special karma with the one he chose?

Of course, a "make you smile" moment of this trip was when we were out at the pumpkin patch and Addison had to go pee. We decided to go in the weeds and when he was finished he said, "I'm just helping the grass to grow."
